4 Ingredient Caramel Sauce

Kristin Hoffman (author of Baker Bettie’s Better Baking Book) describes how to make caramel sauce with only four ingredients.

Hi,

The first time I ever made homemade caramel sauce, I was amazed at how simple it was!

The trickiest part was just being patient to let the sugar caramelize without walking away.

How to Make Caramel Sauce

Making caramel sauce requires very few ingredients: water, sugar, cream, and salt. That’s truly it!

  1. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Let the sugar melt, begin to bubble, and caramelize.
  3. Add the cream and salt and cook for a few more minutes to thicken.

Seriously so easy!

Use as an ice cream topping, as a filling in a cake, or drizzled over a cake, to dip apples in, and so many more uses!
