Cook Time: 45 minutes
Yield: Makes 8 servings
Ingredients:

- Vegetable shortening, for pie plate
- 1/2 cup flour, plus more for pie plate
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, cut into small pieces
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Whole Nutmeg (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9-inch pie plate with shortening; dust with flour. Combine milk, sugar, 1/2 cup flour, butter, eggs, and vanilla in a blender. Cover; blend until mixed, about 1 minute. Pour into prepared pie plate; grate nutmeg over the top, if desired. Bake until a knife inserted in center comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm or cooled, with a dollop of whipped cream and grated nutmeg, if desired. Makes 8 servings.
