Women’s Perspective: Liminal Conversation

Dr. Jean Bolen (author of Like a Tree) joins Gloria Steinem to speak on emerging from the pandemic pause and noticing the gifts of liminal space.
Gloria Steinem is an American activist, journalist, and leader in the global feminist movement. Steinem contributed to feminism internationally as a writer, lecturer, organizer, and media spokeswoman on the issues of equality. At the age of 87, she continues her work towards a more just world through her support of seasoned and budding activists and organizations, such as the Women’s Media Center, the ERA Coalition, and Equality Now. She is a co-founder of Ms. Magazine.
Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen is a psychiatrist, Jungian analyst, an internationally known author and speaker who draws from spiritual, feminist, Jungian, medical and personal wellsprings of experience. Jean is the author of many works, including The Tao of Psychology:Synchronicity and the Self, Urgent Message from Mother, Like a Tree, Moving Toward the Millionth Circle:Energizing the Global Woman’s Movement, Artemis: The Indomitable Spirit in Everywoman.
How Trees, Women, and Tree People Can Save the Planet
Of trees and women. This book on the importance of trees grew out of Bolen’s experience mourning the loss of a Monterey pine that was cut down in her neighborhood. That, combined with her practice of walking among tall trees, led to her deep connection with trees and an understanding of their many complexities. From their anatomy and physiology, to trees as archetypal and sacred symbols, Bolen expertly explores the dynamics of ecological activism spiritual activism and sacred feminism. And, she invites us to join the movement to save trees.
