Lettering From A-Z by Phawnda Moore receives Next Generation Indie Book Awards in two different categories.
The Next Generation Indie judges selected Phawnda’s book “Lettering From A to Z: 12 Styles & Awesome Projects for a Creative Life” as the best entry in Gift/Specialty/Novelty, one of 70 categories.
A second award, from The National Indie Excellence Awards, recognized the book as the winner in the Crafts and Hobbies division.
The Next Generation Indie Book Awards is the 14th annual largest, not-for-profit international awards program for independent authors and publishers. Over 500 authors placed as winners or finalists. Winners receive a cash prize and gold medal and will be recognized at a virtual online awards presentation on Friday, June 25th, 2021 at 4 pm PST. The awards presentation will be streamed live on Facebook.
In 2019, Phawnda was recognized for her self-published book by Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Prior to being an author, she served as the editor/designer at Placer County Office of Education and the California Community Colleges Chancellors Office. She received awards for educational publications from National Schools Public Relations Association (2009 and 2012) and The Association for Women in Communication (2011).
Phawnda studied graphic design at UC Davis and with more than 65 professional calligraphers. She’s a member of Washington Calligraphers Guild (Merrifield, VA), Society for Calligraphy (Los Angeles, CA), Creative Arts League Sacramento (Sacramento, CA), Arts Council of Placer County (Rocklin, CA), Women’s National Book Association (San Francisco, CA chapter) and Folsom Art Association (Folsom, CA).
Her books are for all levels interested in calligraphy and traditional design principles, using modern tools. “Lettering From A to Z” is a 224-page, full-color book for busy parents and grandparents, and retired professionals who want to make gifts and cards, or keep a journal.
Phawnda’s book is available on Amazon and in local bookstores. Book owners are invited to join a private FB group to explore living a creative life in community.
She teaches throughout the state and will be offering fall classes at Sierra Community Education in Roseville, CA and is available for book discussions in the community and via Zoom interview.
