Messy Home? It’s Not Your Fault. Organizing Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All.

Cassandra Aarssen (author of Real Life Organizing) is ready to help you clean out your house and declutter your life’s messes.

After working with thousands of clients who struggle with clutter, the biggest takeaway I’ve learned is that confidence is key. If you have tried to get organized and failed in the past, or you are struggling to maintain a tidy home, it can really do a number on your self-esteem.

I think the most important part of the Clutterbug™ philosophy is understanding that you are NOT messy, you just organize differently. When you use organizing systems that are designed for how you naturally manage your things, putting your stuff away feels effortless. When you finally understand that you are not the reason your home is out of control, it’s simply the wrong system for you, well, that is where true change can take place.

It’s amazing what can happen when you give yourself some understanding, empathy and grace. While I truly believe organizing for your style is life-changing, it’s the confidence you gain in your own ability that really makes all the difference. It means you no longer dread tidying and cleaning, because you no longer think you’re bad at it. When you use a system that’s working and you see REAL progress in your home, it motivates you to keep going and to keep doing more.

If you don’t yet know what Clutterbug you are, that’s ok. The four different Clutterbugs are a scale and not everyone can fit into just one category. I do want you to know this though, if something isn’t working, it’s not you, it’s the system. Try something else, try something different. You are NOT messy. You are NOT lazy. You can manage your home and it can feel effortless, you just need to find the right organization for you and your family.

Tonight, at 8:00pm EST is a very special episode of Hot Mess House on HGTV. In this episode, we help Sandy (who is a Butterfly), organize her craft supplies. My heart broke for her because she has felt messy and lazy, despite her incredibly successful career in the military. The state of Sandy’s home had led to low self-esteem and depression. She didn’t have visitors and she admitted to spending most of her days shutting out the outside world. Her clutter had stolen her space and her self-love. I was so blessed to have a front row seat to watch her life-changing transformation and I’m still so emotional about it. You don’t want to miss this episode.

Here is a sneak peek at just ONE of the incredible spaces in her home. Tune in to tonight’s episode to see more!

Did you know I’ve also written FOUR books? If you really want to learn everything you can about the four organizing styles and learn how to combine multiple styles under one roof, The Clutter Connection is the book I recommend. This books not only breaks down the styles, but it also breaks down the stigma of being “messy”.
