Here is a Q and A with the author:

1.      What motivated you to write your book, to force you from taking an idea or experience and turning it into a book? Well, I’ve worked from home for many years now, at least part time, and I had the idea for the book in mind because I could see America was moving to a gig economy and more people were working from home. But then the pandemic hit, and scores of people started shifting to working from home because of quarantines, and publishing the book became much more important. That is not to say that the book will become obsolete once the pandemic is over, but I think it forced a shift in the workplace that we’re going to see continue to a stay-at-home workforce more than a traditional workforce.

  • What is it about and who is it for? Your Work from Home Life is a guide to working from home. It comes with templates and checklists to help the stay-at-home worker become more productive. It’s intended for anyone who works from home, or is considering shifting to a non-traditional career where they can work from home.
  • What do you hope the reader will be left with after reading it? Hopefully, the reader will come away feeling that they can have a successful, balanced career and home life while working from home. I hope my readers come away with a better understanding of how to best build their business from home.
  • What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers? Read everything you can get your hands on, even if it’s outside your chosen genre. And make friends with other writers. Too often, I think, writes think they need to be isolated, and forget the importance of community. Building a supportive community with other writers you can share your work with is important.
  • What trends in the book world do you see — and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading?  Overall, sales are up, which is a good thing. People seem to be reading more through the pandemic. We’re seeing more sales for authors that write a series of books, and indie publishing and electronic media sales are both up. Adult nonfiction seems to be in a minor decline, but I wouldn’t be surprised if those numbers increase this year. It’s a good year to be a writer with a new book, despite having to rely on different methods of getting the word out about your book. It’s more challenging to publicize a book during quarantine, but you can also reach more readers through the world wide web than you could at a traditional book launch. Hopefully, the uptick in sales will continue past the pandemic.
