Standing in Solidarity with Peaceful Protests

Check out this post by Dr. Judith Pentz author of Cleanse the Body, Reveal the Soul

I choose to stand by the actions of the peaceful protests that are happening here in the United States and in many major cities in the world. I stand in solidarity with those seeking to create a world where we are all treated with dignity and respect.

This is a time to come from a place of love, not fear. Deep listening to what the truth of right action here is needed. Listen to what your soul reveals to you.

Each one of us has an opportunity to be the change that needs to happen here. It is in the small things that we do and say that make a difference. It is in our actions toward one another and toward ourselves where these changes can happen.

It is in the kindness offered to those around you. This creates a ripple effect, much like the drop of water into the still lake. That small moment may make a lifetime impact on a person believing and having faith in the intrinsic goodness we each have within us.

Look for ways to understand that we all have implicit bias forming our behaviors. I heard Killer Mike speak of ways to be better informed. He recommended that simply watching a teaching by Jane Elliot on YouTube about the impact of racism and how easily it happens.  Her teaching is simple and profound.

We are all connected in this web of life. What happens to one impact all of us. This tragedy of what happened to George Floyd is only one of many similar tragedies that have not been caught on video. Racism hurts all of us. It is no different than how women have been mistreated for centuries. All of us deserve to be treated with respect, regardless of race, sex, religion.

Carolyn Myss speaks to the need to have each of us pray for each and every one of us on this planet. She is so spot on. Prayer matters and impacts the world around all of us. For each of us understanding that each of us have the ability to support each other.

Your one small act matters. Empower yourself in the smallest degree matters. Be present and make it happen.

There are many ways to be a part of the process. Pick the way that resonates for you in creating a life affirming action for this moment.

We are transforming as we speak. Each of us are capable of being instrument of change.

The prayer of Saint Francis can help give us the courage we need to be present and take action.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is offence, let me bring pardon.
Where there is discord, let me bring union.
Where there is error, let me bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
O Master, let me not seek as much
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that one receives,
it is in self-forgetting that one finds,
it is in pardoning that one is pardoned,
it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life.

With deep regard to your soul presence which can help heal the world.
