New Book Description:

Thriving in the Eye of the Hurricane

Finding Your Innate Resilience in Our Challenging Times

by Joseph Bailey

Our lives are being upended almost daily by a hurricane of personal and collective challenges fueled by political unrest, climate change, economic uncertainty, and a rising tide of mental illness and addiction. And of course the Covid-19 pandemic and its horrific fall-out.  Our healthcare, governmental, and educational institutions are overstressed. Many of us feel out of control, fearful, and uncertain.

How do we find our psychological and spiritual bearings during  these times?

For the past 40 years, best-selling author Joe Bailey has been working as a clinical psychologist  and has been teaching and writing about the exciting new paradigm called the Three Principles. In this book, he seeks to pass on how these Principles have allowed him to access his own resilient nature  in the midst of all this uncertainty. Having experienced professional and personal burnout, Joe has  learned not only how to live, but to thrive in the eye of the hurricane.

The purpose of this book is for readers to gain a step by step understanding of how their  minds work, and to experience deeply that all the answers they  seek lie within the calm “eye” of their inner wisdom.  The author’s hope is that we will all come to see that we are resilient by nature and are designed to tap into our own well of insight which can guide us home. Resilience is our birthright, giving us the capacity to reinvent ourselves in our relationships and communities and to find that safe place of  peace in the eye of the hurricane. We have been living in a false paradigm of where our human experience comes from—our past, conditioning, genetics, and socialization. These are certainly influences out of our control, but realizing the true principles of experience—how thought in the moment is the actual creation of our in the moment feelings and perceptions. Realizing this empowers us to remove the barriers to our natural resilience.

Goal:

The goal of my book is to alleviate the unnecessary suffering in all of us, that we are innocently self-generating through a misuse of our minds. At a time of great turmoil and change in the hurricane of our lives, we need an internal compass to guide us back to mental health, clarity of thought, wisdom to create a new world in our personal, professional and societal lives. Thriving in the Eye of the Hurricane is the compass we never learned  how to access, though we were all born with this innate wisdom, peace of mind, and an ability to bounce back from all the challenges we face.

Intended Audience/Demographics:

The audience is the general public. Who doesn’t need to find balance, peace of mind and a clear way of creating a more positive life. People are all looking for this whether they know it or not. As you can see in the many examples from all walks of life, how these principles have transformed thousands of lives from all walks of lives—parents, teachers, healthcare professionals, business leaders, prisoners, the poor and homeless, the addicted and mentally ill, children, police officers, to name a few.

Recording Experience:

Yes. I have a 40 year history of a public speaker, teacher and consultant. I have made numerous audio tapes/CD’s and electronic recordings. I have appeared on radio and television to promote my books at a local and national level. I have been told I have a calming voice that is appealing to the listener.

Access to Contacts/Mailing List:

Yes. I am comfortable with that but need to check on the legality of that since I am bound by the ethics of my license as a clinical psychologist.

Fearproof Your Life

How to Thrive in a World Addicted to Fear

Don’t let fear rule your life. Throughout time, we have sought peace and safety by trying to outguess the unknown. We have tried to prepare for the unexpected and the apparitions of our minds. In an age of 24-hour cable news, when we can stay glued to the latest terrorist attack or natural disaster, the next epidemic, and what the pundits tell us we should be afraid of, our efforts to control the unknown and keep ourselves safe have led to a collective as well as a personal sensation of fear.
