It’s Never to Late to Harness Your Goals and Reach Them!

You may enjoy my introduction for Deb because I compliment her as running THE BEST groups on Facebook! Deb is so positive and has a spicy mix of people with impressive and unique talents. Like Deb, people in her groups are on the move making it fun and interesting.

I’m now reading Your Goal Guide by Debra Eckerling, my show guest, and I have to say I am taking a closer look to distill my core direction and clarify strategic mapping to achieve (not just have) goals!

It’s never too late to go after and get what you want! But having a blueprint to get you on track, then giving you an action plan to execute, Deb really helps propel you on your mission. Your mission, of course, is to reach your goal(s), and this conversation, along with Deb’s book, helps you accelerate your work to get there.

Introducing The DEB Method

Finding your “goaltopia,” as Deb labels it in her book, is doable. But only after you confirm what you really want, weigh the options to get there, and take actions and steps on the proper path. Sure, you may need to zig and zag as life expects to alter us along our way. Luckily, Deb’s methods to achieve your goal(s) allow for that and she even offers you tactics to get back en route, even if you detour.

In the interview, Deb breaks down her goal-setting guide, explaining this framework:

  • D …determine where you want to go, your mission
  • E …explore different destinations, your options
  • B …brainstorm your route, your roadmap

The book takes you deeper into each step. Then, each part of the process is broken down, along with giving you recipes to complete the step and move forward with a set plan. Therefore, the key to Your Goal Guide is to bring you a simplified—not overly complicated—process. Everything is created to be user-friendly.

Use it or Lose it!

After you do the headwork and clarify your direction, the legwork begins. To blueprint your roadmap, you need to understand what’s needed to get you there. This research alone may allow you to realize you can reach your goal(s) because you’ll see exactly what those things are. This kind of analysis may also prove why you can’t expect to find success by highlighting valid constraints, perhaps something insurmountable surfaces. Being realistic matters. Otherwise, you are potentially wasting time and resources.

Or, you may find you have to accomplish several smaller projects to get to the point of moving forward to your main or bigger goals. One thing for sure, everyone’s map is different. But without a map at all, your journey to success and reaching any goals may end up stuck in the muck.

More About Deb

Besides grabbing her book, you can catch up with Debra Eckerling on her Twitter Chats as the host of #GoalChat and #GoalChatLive. Deb helps people figure out the next steps when #ChangeHappens … which may be VERY handy at a time like this! So yes, she does do coaching along with so many other projects, panels, and group discussions, mostly about goals and writing of every genre, as well. Also, the founder of @WriteOnOnline and LIVE stream interviewer for @MangoPublishing, it’s no wonder I took note of Deb!
